Front Royal Outdoors offers the best weekday and weekend rates on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River! We also offer the most Shenandoah River trip options and packages in the area. All of our Shenandoah River trips are self-guided with shuttle service included. For any trip you choose, come to our office and we take it from there!

Reservations are always recommended, especially for weekends, but not required. Online reservations must be made at least 2 hours prior to arrival. Phone-in reservations must be made at least one day in advance. We recommend making large group and holiday weekend reservations at least one week in advance. Weekday reservations are usually not needed, but recommended for large groups to guarantee availability.

How it Works

Each of our offerings requires adventurers to choose how long they would like to experience the Shenandoah River and on which watercraft they would like to use during their trip. For all of the trip selections below, your transportation to and from the river is included.

Making a Reservation

Online reservations are recommended and require payment in full at the time of booking. Groups that qualify for discounted rates should call the office to make the reservation. Call-in reservations still require a credit card to confirm the booking, but we’ll wait to process the card until the day of the trip. See our cancellation policy on the FAQ page.

Trip 1 takes you from Karo Landing to Front Royal Outdoors and is great for all kinds of watercraft due to its soft currents and easy floating. Featuring stunning scenery and a mix of paddling opportunities, river lovers come back year-after-year to experience this iconic Shenandoah River trip.

Floating from Shenandoah River State Park to Karo Landing for 5 miles, this is a great paddling trip for canoes, kayaks, and rafts. This is a great float for a wide variety of skill levels and ages, but we don’t recommend it when the river flow gauge is below 2 feet.

Our most popular half day trip! Trip 2 takes you from Karo Landing to Front Royal landing and is perfect for all kinds of waterfcraft. This 7-mile trip is the perfect adventure for those who want to get the most out of a half day Shenandoah River trip.

Trip SP3 takes you from Shenandoah River State Park to Front Royal Outdoors, mile marker 40. Featuring 8 miles of paddling fun for canoes, kayaks, and rafts. However, we do not recommend this trip when the river flow gauge is below 2 feet.

Full-Day Trips

During normal-to-above-average river flows, Trip 3 is a popular 11.5-mile float for canoes, kayaks, and rafts. Floating from Bentonville Landing (mile marker 28) to Front Royal Outdoors, experience some of the finest floating in Virginia on this full day Shenandoah River trip.

Escape the crowds and experience a gorgeous Shenandoah River trip where you will paddle from Seekfords Landing for 12 miles and take out at Bentonville Landing. Trip 4 is especially popular for rafting and features abundant wildlife and scenery.

Trip SP4 is one of our longer day trips at 12 miles in length and is one of the best floats for those who want cool off with a refreshing swim in the river during their paddling trip from Shenandoah River State Park to Front Royal Landing. We recommend that you book this trip when the river flow gauge is above 2 feet.

Trip 5 is our longest day trip coming in at 16 miles in length and features some of the finest scenery in the Shenandoah River valley, floating from Bentonville Landing to Front Royal Landing (mile marker 44). Featured some more advanced river features, this is a great float for those who want to test their paddling skills. This float is best when the river flow gauge is above 2 feet.

Trip SP3 is a great float for those who want to experience some of the finest fishing in Virginia. Featuring 16 miles of prime smallmouth bass habitat, anglers will revel in the serenity and quality fishing opportunities on this Shenandoah River trip. Given this float’s length and topography, we recommend this trip when the river flow gauge is above 1.8 feet.

Multi-Day Trips

SP5 is a two-day trip that floats from Burners Ford, downstream 18.5 miles to Front Royal Outdoors, mile marker 40. Camping is recommended at Shenandoah River State Park (advance camping reservation required at State Park)

Trip 7 is our most popular overnight trip and features camping at either mile 24 or Low Water Bridge Campground. Paddlers will experience amazing scenery and fun floating, making for an unforgettable Shenandoah River trip.

Trip 7A is a fantastic float on the Shenandoah River featuring quality camping options and beginner-to-intermediate paddling experiences. This is a two-day trip that floats from Innskeep Landing (Bixler Bridge), downstream 28 miles to Bentonville Landing, mile marker 28. Best camping at mile 13.
