Paddling Conditions:

The river is in the upper part of the Low Range, still a good level for floating most trips.  We are running canoes and kayaks on several trips. Rafts and stand-up-paddleboards (SUP) are running trips 1 & 2 only. Tubing has concluded for this season, choose rafts as a great tubing like option.  Shorten up your paddling trip and enjoy more floating and less work trying to complete a long trip. Best recreational paddling day trips are trips 1 & 2. For a very long day, trip 4. Best fishing trips are 1 and 2. Trip SP2 and SP3 are difficult to get through the McCoy’s Ford area.  Trips 3, 5, SP2, SP3 & SP4 are NOT recommended for fun paddling at this river level!  Multi-day trips are definitely more difficult at this level.  Best two-day trip is a shortened version of trip #7, starting at 16, primitive camping at 24 and ending at Shenandoah River State Park (8 miles per day).  Best three-day trip is a shortened version of trip #8, starting at 13,  first night at 17, second night at 24 and ending at Shenandoah River State Park. PACK LIGHT! Dress in layers and take a change of clothes with you on your trip. Remember to bring plenty of drinking water, snacks, sunscreen, shoes that you can wear in the river (no flip-flops please), and a change of clothes. Also. remember to always wear your life vest!

Please check this page before coming out to the river to see if there are any additional restrictions in place. See you on the river!

Our online store is open, and we are shipping orders or making items available for in-store pickup.

NOTE: Be advised that river conditions can change rapidly with sudden storms or heavy rain in the upper watershed. Also, water temperature can vary as much as six degrees or more in a single day.
